30 October - You’ll have to scream LOUDER, a multidisciplinary evening showcasing young Dutch talent from the contemporary literary and performing arts scene, featuring events about literature, spoken word, music, live podcasts and more.

31 October - Crossing Border opening night (more information to follow)
1 and 2 November - Festival nights featuring numerous authors and musical acts performing across multiple stages.
2 November - Day programme featuring literary events at various venues.

2 November - Kids programme for kids between 0-14 years old, featuring international children’s authors and illustrators.

Bookshop and book signings

Crossing Border has its very own bookshop: the Other World Bookshop.

There are books available for every event of the day and evening programme.  The authors will sign copies of their books immediately after their event. 

What is the main language of the events?

All interviews at Crossing Border will be held in English. If an international author does not speak sufficient English, an interpreter will be present at the event. Performances by Dutch authors will be held in Dutch.

Festival nights (1 and 2 Nov)
This year, the festival nights will take place on six stages at the Koninklijke Schouwburg.


Day programme  (2 Nov)
The day programme will take place at various venues in The Hague, including BorderKitchen, the Mauritshuis and Zaal 3. All venues will be announced in early September.


Kids programma (2 Nov)
The Kids programme will take place at Theater Vaillant.

Tickets for the festival nights and and other announced events will go on sale after the first programme announcement on 20 June.

Ooievaarspas 1-day pass €15

Tickets charged per child (<14 y/o). Free entry for parents and guardians. A parent/guardian can accompany a maximum of 3 children.


European Literature Prize award ceremony (date tba)
Entry to the European Literature Prize award ceremony is free. The (free) entry ticket can be downloaded in the ticket shop after the official announcement of the event. The winners will be announced in early September.

Education

Programme for secondary school pupils

Secondary school pupils will have the opportunity to engage in conversation with international and Dutch authors.

Student meets Author

arrow


Crossing Border collaborates with student advisors to facilitate conversations between groups of (art) students and international authors during the festival. These conversations, including the preparation and follow-up, are part of their curriculum.

In past years we have invited students from several renowned universities including the UvA, VU, UU and LU.
