AUTHOR
ALESSANDRO PIPERNO
Alessandro Piperno lives and works in Rome, where he teaches French at the university. Met de slechtste bedoelingen (Con le peggiori intenzioni) is a remarkable debut novel that remained on the Italian bestseller lists for months. Piperno paints a ruthless portrait of the partly Jewish, partly Catholic Sonnino family, set against the backdrop of the second half of the twentieth century. A sharp, ironic and at times melancholic depiction of concealed antisemitism within Rome’s upper bourgeoisie circles.
“Con le peggiori intenzioni is captivating; it makes you keep reading, you cannot put it down.” — Corriere della Sera
“The book everyone is talking about at the moment.” — Donna Moderna
