AUTHOR
Chris Judge
Chris Judge is an illustrator, artist, and children's picture book author from Dublin, Ireland. Since 2011 Chris has written and illustrated over 35 children's books, many of which are in collaboration with authors like Roddy Doyle, David O'Doherty and Eoin Colfer. His first book, The Lonely Beast won the Specsavers Irish Children's Book of the Year 2011 in the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards.
Chris also creates large-scale artworks, including murals, installations, wood-cuts and most notably six large mosaics in collaboration with Triskill Design.
His series “Evil Duck” is a graphic novel that follows Twins Flo and Eddie who are staying with their grandad while their mum travels for work. Nosing around in Grandad’s attic, they find a villainous-looking duck frozen inside a special, temperature-controlled chamber. Eddie accidentally presses the DEFROST button – and releases super-villain Evil Duck! It turns out that Grandad, AKA Fearless Frank, is a retired superhero duck who captured his nemesis Evil Duck many moons ago, saving society from his sinister schemes. But now Evil Duck has escaped, and Grandad is too old to recapture him alone, Eddie and Flo are going to have to help him track the super-villain down – before he gets back to his evil ways!
At Crossing Border Kids he will present his graphic novel “Evil Duck and the Feather of Fortune” followed by a creative workshop.
