On Friday 23 October, British music critic and writer Simon Reynolds will be a guest at BorderKitchen. He will talk to White Rabbit publisher Lee Brackstone about his latest book:
Still in a Dream: Shoegaze, Slackers and the Reinvention of Rock, 1984–1994
Reynolds has been writing about pop music and pop culture for forty years and has interviewed some of the biggest names in music. He followed the rise of post-punk, rave and electronic music and wrote influential books including Energy Flash, Rip It Up and Start Again and Retromania.
In his new book Still in a Dream, he dives into a period when music took a completely new direction. The years before the rise of grunge, with bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. Music that is now being rediscovered by a new generation.
