Mensje van Keulen (The Hague, 1946) worked as a columnist and cartoonist for Propria Cures before making her debut as a novelist in 1972 with Bleekers Zomer, which was received with great acclaim and has been reprinted many times. She went on to build a rich body of work, including novels, short stories, and children’s books. Her writing has earned multiple awards and nominations. Her most recent book, Liefde heeft geen hersens (Love Has No Brain), a powerful novel about many facets of love, was nominated for the AKO Literature Prize 2012, the Libris Literature Prize 2013, and the Opzij Literature Prize 2013. It was recently announced that she is the winner of the Constantijn Huygens Prize 2014.
