“Let him dangle a little longer,” says the kaasmaker’s assistant. His boss is hanging tangled in a spruce tree after a paraglider accident. The assistant’s laconic attitude is typical of the behaviour of the small group of characters who find themselves together at the foot of the mountain Sez Ner. The pig herder, the cow herder, the cheese maker and his assistant: they live and work together on the alp, but they are also separate from one another, each going their own way, each with their quirks.

Sez Ner is published as a trilogy in one volume – the first part is also called Sez Ner, followed by Achter het station and De laatste – shortly before BorderKitchen, in a translation by Miek Zwamborn.

With this trilogy, Camenisch received much acclaim in his home country, winning the Friedrich Hölderlin Förderpreis 2013, the Swiss Federal Literature Prize, the Berner Literaturpreis, the ZKB Schiller Prize and the Romansh literary award Premi Term Bel.
