A.B. Yehoshua

The Faulkner of Israel, that is how Abraham B. Yehoshua (1936) is often described. With 11 books translated into more than 30 languages, Yehoshua is one of the most important Israeli authors of our time. He is known for not shying away from controversial subjects—an engaged writer for whom everything, as he himself put it, is “inevitably framed by fundamental questions of life and death.”

At Crossing Border he will talk about his latest book Het eerbetoon. Yair Moses, an elderly film director, is invited to Santiago de Compostela for a retrospective of his early work. The story that unfolds revolves around perhaps one of the most defining human traits: the capacity for compassion.
