AUTHOR

PAUL MASON

A special edition of BorderKitchen during tech culture festival Border Sessions with journalist, writer, and filmmaker Paul Mason. He will be interviewed by Roel Janssen about his book Clear Bright Future, which will be available in Dutch translation later this year (Een stralende toekomst, published by De Bezige Bij)

Paul Mason is one of the most significant commentators of our time. His specialist subject? The Great Recession, the global financial crisis starting in 2008, and how it's eating away at all the essential foundations of our world like a tumor. Mason has written on numerous contiguous topics. To explore his ideas, PostCapitalism: A Guide to Our Future, published in 2015, provides a good starting point.

His latest book is called Clear Bright Future: A Radical Defence of the Human Being, in which Mason pleads for a new form of co-operation which, according to him, will safeguard humanity amidst technological revolutions happening at the speed of light. Mason's view reverberates with the stance of humanism: once the human touch starts seeping from our DNA, there's no knowing what the world will become. Until then, optimism pays - when it came down to it, humans have always forced themselves into collaborations.

Paul Mason (1960, Leigh) is a British journalist en radio personality. He is Economics Editor for Channel 4 News as well as a much sought-after speaker.
