Mustansar Hussain Tarar

AUTHOR

MUSTANSAR HUSSAIN TARAR

Mustansar Hussain Tarar is Pakistan's best selling Urdu language author. His novels, short story collections and travelogues have inspired generations of Pakistani readers and a devout following.

Each of Tarar's novels explore new themes, yet have plots linking them in certain ways through his unique characters, symbolism and similitudes, and a strong undercurrent of Pakistan's social and political history.

Bahhao (Sorrows of Sarswati), and Raakh (Ashes) have been rated as some of the most influential Urdu novels written.

Tarar's work is part of Urdu curriculum in universities in Pakistan and abroad & a topic of several academic works.

At BorderKitchen Mustansar Hussain Tarar will speak about hitchhiking in Europe in the 1960’s when he was one of the few Pakistanis travelling in the region, and his works of fiction focusing on loss of ideology after the Cold War: & decaying civilizations amidst ecological changes in history.
