AUTHOR

MOHSIN HAMID

Mohsin Hamid (1971) grew up in California, but at nine years of age, returned to the homeland of his parents: Pakistan. In the absence of television channels, young Hamid grabbed books. He returned to the United States as a writer, and debuted with the award-winning, Moth Smoke. His second novel, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, was nominated for the Man Booker Prize and was made into a film featuring Liev Schreiber and Kiefer Sutherland. Novel number four appeared last year. Exit West, also on the longlist of the Man Booker Prize 2017, is the searing and topical story of two young people against the backdrop of an emerging war. When violence explodes in their city, they decide to make the dangerous and costly passage to safety. On Monday September 11th, exactly 16 years after 9/11, Hamid will talk to BorderKitchen about his latest book at music venue Paard.
