Karina van Santen and Martine Vosmaer met at the Institute of Translation Studies. Their first collaboration was a translation of a novella by Beckett in 1985. They have worked together ever since and are sometimes referred to as ‘Santemaer’. Among the authors they have translated are: John Berger, Richard Ford, Simon Schama, Rebecca Solnit, Salman Rushdie and DBC Pierre. At the Crossing Border Festival, Karina van Santen and Martine Vosmaer will receive the European Literature Award 2020 for their translation of Spring by Ali Smith.
Martine Vosmaer is part of the Saturday evening award ceremony of the Europe Literature Prize.
