The Dutch poet Lamia Makaddam was born in Tunisia. There, she studied Arabic Language and Literature. She has published three collections of poetry in the Arabic and won the El Hizjra Literature Prize in the year 2000. As well as a poet, she is a journalist and a translator. Among the works she has translated from the Dutch are the novels ‘Jij zegt het’ by Connie Palmen and Malva by Hagar Peeters. ‘Je zult me vinden in elk woord dat ik schrijf’ was her first poetry collection to be translated from the Arabic into the Dutch.
