Gary Grosby

Gary Crosby, double bass player, composer, music arranger and educator; undeniably one of the best and often referred to as the Godfather of the scene but it is clear that his direction and singular focus is to to make other people shine. He was the founder member of the celebrated group the Jazz Warriors in the 1980s and when he established Tomorrow’s Warriors in 1991, he was not only providing a platform for skilled young musicians but planting the seeds for the resurgence of jazz. The Tomorrow’s Warriors Jazz Café Jam Session became an institution and developed four generations of Warriors.

Gary Crosby has received multiple awards for his musicianship and more recently in September 2017, Crosby was named one of the 12 recipients of an award by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) celebrating the unique contribution of those who have supported or inspired the UK songwriting and composing community.

“Gary Crosby through his organisation and outstanding teaching has achieved in 20 years what many would think would take a lifetime in regards to ethnic minorities and gender imbalances.” Paul Gambaccini, Parliamentary Award for Jazz Education
