Mahvash Sabet
Mahvash Sabet (born 4.02.1953 in Isfahan) is a poet and teacher, and a prominent figure in the Baha’i community. After having been incarcerated for nine years, she was arrested again in July 2022 on fabricated charges. She was given no access to legal counsel, and in November of that year she was sentenced to ten more years in prison. She is serving this sentence in the Evin prison in Teheran, allegedly in solitary confinement. During her first long incarceration, she wrote a cycle of poems that were published in English under the title ‘Prison Poems’.
Nina Tarhan Mouravi, translator of poetry and board member of PEN Netherlands, will recite a selection.
