Korzo - Heartbeat Hotel

Called the ‘king of country noir’, White’s music is a dreamy yet dark mix of folk, country, Americana, bluegrass, and pop, in which he not only tries to unravel the secrets of the South, but also address his own demons.

White released a new album, Misfits Jubilee, in 2020 that he partly recorded in Belgium with European musicians Geert Hellings and Nicolas Rombouts. In Autumn 2023, White will release Permanent Stranger, under the name Mama Lucky.

His first full-length novel, Incidental Contact is a love letter to the fans of White’s oeuvre — the outsiders, the lost souls, anyone who, as White points out in his iconic song Static on the Radio, “thinks less of what is written than what’s wrote between the lines”.

Artist

Jim White

California-born Jim White is a legendary musician, producer, outsider artist, and writer, whose musical career began in the late 1990s when he met Talking Heads singer David Byrne. He soon signed to Byrne’s celebrated Luaka Bop record label, and his debut album Wrong Eyed Jesus became an immediate classic of the Americana genre.

Today, he is one of the most respected names in the alternative country and roots music scene, and has worked with big names including Joe Henry, Bill Frisell, Morcheeba, and Aimee Mann. While White gets his inspiration from years of globetrotting, his music is firmly rooted in the South, which he sees as the cradle of American music.
