Catharina Valckx was born in the Netherlands and grew up in France and writes in both languages. Her witty, charming tales capture the sense of adventure, curiosity, and unconventional joys of childhood, with lovable characters imbued with personality by Valckx’s pastel palette and attention to detail.

Trained as a painter, Valckx transitioned into writing after the birth of her son and aims to delight both children and parents by capturing the crooked logic of childhood. There is also a kindness and empathy running through her books, with a generous sense of love for the world which her characters inhabit.

Her books including Lisette’s Lie and Lisette’s Green Sock have been translated into languages including English, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.
