Rodrigo Blanco Calderón

As a child, he dreamed of becoming a professional footballer at Maritine F.C., but instead of traveling around the world with a ball at his foot, writer, editor and professor Rodrigo Blanco Calderón, invariably has a pen and notepad in his pocket. He began collecting stories at an early age and his elephantine memory is like the treasure chest of his youth, the depths from which he regularly pulls out memories that serve as an inspiration for his short stories. He is a strong critic of the current regime in Venezuela. The Night is his debut novel, its title derived from a song by American band Morphine.
