Rebecca Solnit

You don’t have to explain a thing to Rebecca Solnit. Solnit grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, writes regularly for Harper’s Magazine, and has written dozens of books and essays across a huge range of subjects, from activism and politics, to art and climate. She combines this with personal stories, thus building a bridge between the autobiographical and the academic. Solnit’s book Men Explain Things to Me, in which she introduced the commonly used term ‘mansplaining’ and spotlights sexism, was finally published in Dutch this year. Her stories are hopeful but honest, and plant both your feet firmly on the ground.

Rebecca Solnit will be interviewed by Persis Bekkering.
