Erik Kriek

Erik Kriek gained international fame as the creator of the textless comic strip Gutsman, a sketch of the life of faux superhero Gutsman, and his troubled relationship with girlfriend Tigra, eternally clad in tiger print. In 2006, the comics were adapted as a theatre performance, in which he had the starring role. And that was just the beginning. Meanwhile, the illustrator has received multiple awards, his book The Unseeable and Other Stories has been translated into six languages, and last year he produced In the Pines, a collection of comic strips of so-called ‘murder ballads’. A musical version is currently in development by The Brussels Jazz Orchestra, which is already raising interest in Hollywood. You’ll also find him busy working on his first full-length story, a viking-western that takes place in Iceland in the tenth century…
