Before he had to flee for his life, Ali Bader studied philosophy and French literature in Baghdad. He was an actor and he wrote, but artists can’t be sure of their lives in the midsts of extremists. In his books, written over a number of years from Brussels, Bader challenges negative ideas about his region. In ‘The Cloud Musician’, based on his own life, he also criticises the idealised image of Europe. Confronting and difficult to forget, this book contains more substance to reflect upon than might be expected from the number of its pages.
On Friday November the 3rd Ali Badar shares the stage with Omar Hamilton. They will be interviewed by Hassan Bahara. On Saturday the 4th of November Badar wil be on stage again, but solo.
